Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To upgrade an item, a player has to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Usually items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base, while items with strong bases such as Eth titans don't change significantly in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components can be added to armors, weapons trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They give you an attribute bonus, or an additional benefit, while the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, found as loot by enemies, or received from chests or missions. Certain upgrades also have cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon, armor or other item level upgrade in the game, the player must select it and then click on the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade stats will be and also the required component or material needed to make that happen.

There are three kinds of universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, which are made up of gems, can be put in any kind of equipment and provide smaller bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions are gems that are only available in equipment that is legendary or ascended. They provide the same bonuses as jewels, but cannot be used with any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix to the end of the names of items. For instance the addition of a Glyph could transform the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool, and then replaces glyphs with another glyph the previous one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component the item will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which are able to be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade system is different from previous versions in some important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a specific number of times before being "leveled out." The upgrade costs increase with each level, but the materials needed do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a couple of important items to maximize their impact, instead of spreading upgrade costs across several items.

Once an item upgrader has been completed in this way, it is capable of receiving a new set of upgrade components, and an increase in the likelihood that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is known as Artisan's Energy. It will reset to 0 if an upgrade fails, or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its highest level, it will be able to gain affixes which will boost its attributes. The number of affixes that are available depends on the type of item it is. For instance the rare or exclusive weapon with a normal base will have no more than two affixes for it, whereas legendary armors can have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade step requires a certain number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on the type of item at its current level, and in which slot it is located in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item does not attain its maximum level, the NPC will give the player the option of transfer it to a different character and then re-infuse it with another set of upgrades. This process takes up to two hours and costs the same amount of materials, though it will have lower chances of success.

To measure the height of a building, engineers will employ a level to compare the measurement with a known reference point such as a benchmark or the ground's elevation. This is referred to as a "level-loop." It involves taking readings using the level and backsight rod before turning the level to make the foresight rod reading. This method guarantees that the buildings are constructed with an extremely high level of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling refers to the process of changing the upgrade components of an item. It is an essential aspect of the game, and it can boost an item's damage, strength or other attributes. This can be accomplished through the menu for items or by clicking the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be costly and should be used sparingly.

The game allows players to recycle upgraded items, and use them to earn tokens for rerolls. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item or an item of the same type. Recyclable items have an indicator of the level which shows how much of the upgrade gauge is filled. The amount of level that has been filled is based on the rarity and cost of upgrading of the item upgrader mod.

Prior to this, some upgrade items were given priority affixes that made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you would get the stats that mattered most to your build more often than other. This included stats like the armor's total armour, thorns, and diminished duration due to control or the weapon's bonus attack speed and strike chance.

This has changed since the most recent patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same chances of rolling for all stats. This can be a good or bad thing dependent on your needs and requirements from your equipment.

Each upgraded item upgrades can also come with a bonus that increases the item's power by a fixed percentage or flat value. These bonuses are offered into the standard affixes. The more you improve an item, the greater the chance of receiving an exclusive bonus.

The game also comes with various sets which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are equipped on the same unit. This is a great way to give an individual character more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players are known to reroll their weapons and equipment, especially in the early stages. Rerolling is a way to create a more powerful character faster, which allows players to advance in the game and achieve higher tiers.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be organized in different ways. They can be different sizes, contain no elements, or only contain a single element. They can be used to organize data or separating information. They are also useful in studying patterns. Sets can be classified in several ways, including by size and shape.

There are a variety of set items that can be upgraded in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Certain items are worth upgrading, others are not. Armor sets that provide high defense values or set bonuses are generally worth upgrading. Upgrades to weapons aren't as effective in boosting stats as their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade in the event that your collection of armor and weapons pieces is already extensive.

Set items can be upgraded to include special procs that are useful for certain builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement was increased as well).

Upgrades can also be done to bring certain items up to par with the levels. For example, the Immortal King set has a large level range, between 29 and 76. Upgrades to lower-level items can increase their defense and improve their performance in terms of damage.

To determine if an item is worth upgrading, players should click the Upgrade button on the screen for their character. The item will be displayed with its features, as well as the items needed to upgrade it. For instance, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials as well as 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Alternately, players can go to the Leaderboard or Golden vendor in Cyrodiil to check the upgrade requirements for specific items.

In general, armor and weapons have a higher trade value when fully updated. Especially for weapons that have damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related, upgrading them to gold is recommended since it will result in a significant increase in their power. This will also boost the defense of armor with a newer appearance.
